Do you know the feeling of being uplifted?

Christ Gave Me Wings

Did you know that poetry can be considered contemplative prayer on paper? Or in this case, contemplative prayer on a computer screen;) Dive a little bit deeper into your life of faith by pondering the meaning of the words below and reflecting on the questions afterwards. God bless you on your spiritual journey!

This poem explores themes of friendship, Christian community and taking leaps of faith. Enjoy!

Christ gave me wings

Christ gave me wings even though I’m still on earth,
only they’re not made of feathers but friends.
They shimmer with inside jokes and thoughtful gestures.
They’re colored with personalities,
laughter and support.
If you look closely, you’ll see how glittering prayer and inspiration
are woven into their core,
strengthening them into communities and families that are powerful.
They lift me up and strengthen me to lift others too.

Christ gave me wings even though I’m still on earth,
not because I’m an angel though.
I think it’s because I stood on the edge of a cliff looking up at the stars and
down at the valley below sensing something more.
Alone and wondering what was next,
I believed in the very depth of my soul I had a future to soar to –
So I jumped,
and all these people appeared out of thin air.

I don’t have to be an angel to know the feeling of being uplifted.
It’s funny the way people can’t fly, but we do.
When we’re guided by our spirits;
When we’re brave enough to trust that invisible sense He gives us –
we find each other,
and we rise above it alldo-you-believe-god-has-a-plan-fo-ryour-life-are-you-willing-to-leap-into-the-unknown

Reflection: Do you have a strong sense of community in your life right now? Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone to surround yourself with supportive network of like minded people? I hope and pray that you are. Everyone deserves friends, who truly care about you and lift your spirits. I encourage you to keep the faith and keep searching until you find a strong sense of community!

Prayer: God bless anyone reading this to find a loving, supportive faith community to learn and celebrate life with!!
