How I encountered Christ’s unifying love through the Miraculous Medal

Graces

like rays

of sun,

warm my soul.

Light up

this dark world,

help us grow.

When my son was given the gift of the Miracle that Changed the Trajectory of my Life, I happened to be wearing a Miraculous Medal that was given to me by a friend, who was a faith mentor during that difficult time of his diagnosis, surgery and illness. I never really thought about the role wearing that medal may have played in the miraculous healing he experienced because I attributed it more to the prayers of that healing priest, which were so palpably powerful and life changing.

Recently though, I experienced a miracle, which was clearly directly attributed to the Miraculous Medal, which makes me wonder about the graces that have been flowing into my life through the sacred object all along, which I haven’t been aware of.

A few weeks ago while researching Marian apparitions, I found a video on you tube of a very sweet priest, who was giving away 1,000,000 free Miraculous Medals. What on earth? I thought: Is he for real? I love giving away tokens of faith as encouragements and had just been thinking I need to stop spending so much money on things like that, so I reached out to the priest and offered to distribute 1,000 in my local community.

When I carried the box of medals in from my doorstep, I noticed my hands buzzing with a palpable Holy Spirit sensation, which was particularly intense. This alone increased my faith that God would work powerfully through these sacred objects, which Mary entrusted to Saint Catherine Labour and had also been blessed by the Association of the Miraculous Medal.

But what I consider to be the miracle worth sharing is that when I gave the medal to a family member, who I have long had a difficult relationship with, her eyes lit up and she said “can you feel that?” I actually could feel the Holy Spirit in that moment as well. She traced with her other hand as the Holy Spirit moved through her hand with the medal in it up her arm and then into her heart. Her face lit up with a wonderful smile, a look of awe and wonder come over her and tears streamed down her cheeks. It was a beautiful moment and palpable encounter with Christ’s healing love we were able to unexpectedly experience together.

I don’t know what God was trying to accomplish in that moment or what the long-term impact will be, but it felt like a special blessing of healing to be united in spirit together for that moment through the prayers of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, who only wants to bring each and every one of us into communion with her Son’s spirit of love and peace.

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal told Saint Catherine Labour “All who wear it will receive great graces.” We all have people in our lives, who we struggle with and long-term situations we pray for that just don’t seem to get better no matter what we do. We don’t always feel the Holy Spirit’s presence with us or experience a healing moment like this, but I think stories like this are reminders of the good that always comes from prayer, whether we experience immediate results or not. Wearing a Miraculous Medal is like wearing a prayer, inviting intercession from the Mother of God and welcoming the grace of God into our lives in a powerful way.

Interestingly enough! The friend, who first gave me a Miraculous Medal 12 years ago is the one who taught me to pray about my problems instead of talk about them, which was not my habit at the time. Over these years, I have been blessed to cultivate a deeply rich and rewarding prayer life, which has transformed every aspect of my life and given me a strong sense of purpose in the world. Who knows? Maybe Our Lady of the Miraculous medal has been responsible for helping me cultivate that deep love of prayer and connection to the Holy Spirit!

Mother Mary, thank you for all the blessings you shower down on my family and work through the Miraculous Medal that was given to me so many years ago. Please pray blessings on my family and for Unite in Prayer to be a force of good in the world that helps people unite deeply with the powerful redemptive love of Your Son, Jesus. Please bless all of the people, who have received the medals the Association of Miraculous Medals entrusted me to distribute. Thank You!!

What experience have you had with the Miraculous Medal? How have you encountered the unifying power of Christ’s love in the difficult relationships of Your life?

Thank you Lord for all the ways you help us grow closer to you, especially the Miraculous Medal, whose design and distribution you entrusted to Saint Catherine of Labour. Bless the Association of Miraculous Medals to accomplish Mary’s goal of distributing one to every person on earth. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
