Beneath the mountain
of doing
is the reason
you are.

So what
exactly
are you
climbing for?

When you clarify
your intent,
you clear a path for God …

Look how grace flows like water
into the cracks of your plans
and expands –
mountains of grief wash away
into a clear path,
wow

in nature,
all the elements bow
to the King

Her wish
is like the wind –

with a drop
of faith,
you become
a raging river
of transformation –

never underestimate
the power
of invisible forces,
which bind us
in an eternal matrix of
Love like magic,
only with more wisdom.

Saint Augustine said “Our hearts are restless until they rest in thee.” As we gradually purify our intention toward glorifying God with our lives, we become ever more free to contain the inner peace we are longing for in all circumstances. This requires us to take a long, hard look inside of ourselves to root out any unconscious motivations like greed, selfishness, jealousy or revenge until we are purely motivated by the love of God and desire to express that love in the world. This can be quite a process!

As we persevere on the spiritual path through life, we are continually challenged to purify our intent on deeper and deeper levels. Discernment becomes ever more subtle because even when we want good things or have faith, we tend to also have unconscious limiting beliefs, attachments and doubts, which prevent us from fully seeking God with our whole hearts.

When we make time for the silence of prayer, we become ever more aware of our own interior obstacles to freedom. We can also discover what lies within us is to see what triggers us in other people. For example if we’re irritated by someone who is being judgmental, we need to look at areas inside of ourselves which are judgmental and pray to have them replaced with God’s love and understanding. This is what Jesus meant by “advising us to remove the beam from our eye in Matthew 7 1-6 :

“Do not judge, or you will be judged. For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while there is still a beam in your own eye? 5You hypocite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Do not give dogs what is holy; do not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

So the question is: what motivates your actions in life? Why do you spend your time the way you do? What limiting belief, doubt or fear can you clear out today to make more room for God’s purifying love in your life today? Lord, the path to freedom is difficult but worth it. Give us the grace to seek you with our whole hearts. Strengthen us to confront parts of ourselves, which are not in alignment with your perfect love. Give us eyes to see areas, which we can surrender to you in order to live more fully in the Light of Your love, sharing that Light and love with the people around us. Help us to trust in Your Divine plan for good in our lives as we work through the struggles in our humanity. In Jesus name, we pray.
