Unite in Prayer for Peace

The world can’t give you
what you really want.

Be careful
about even looking
out there
for too long
at the chaos
you can’t control –
like a tornado,
it will uproot your life …
and send you spinning off into the distance
away from everything you’ve been hoping for
even after all you’ve done.

Peace starts
in the basement,
within the chambers
of your own deep heart –

It’s better to ruffle
through old boxes of memories
until you discover the boulder
that is blocking
the river
of your current life.

Your power is in
your consciousness
of the mountain
that needs to be moved
and your ability to allow
grace
to soak
into the deep
crevasse of your past,
to wash away old remnants
of stagnant fear and doubt,
to nourish the possibility
of seismic
transformation.

If you can make peace
inside the boiling cauldron
of your own heart,
you will begin
to flow healing waters
like an eternal fountain of life
into the world –
it’s the only way.

You have everything you need
to begin this work right now,
just ask.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Romans 5:1 ““Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

Ephesians 2:14 “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.”

Philipians 4 4-7 “4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Lord, you are the Prince of Peace, and the world is on fire with so much chaos and suffering. Please come into our hearts, and help us attune to Your spirit of love. Heal our memories, intellect, imagination and will from any trauma, which has impacted our ability to find rest in Your spirit and live freely the abundant life You promised. Purify our desires until they are in alignment with Your will. Allow Your peace to flow through us into the world, which so desperately needs more of it. Protect us as we turn away from the trappings of the world into the safety of Your loving arms. Help us to know our limits and make time to rest in Your spirit of truth and light until we are truly in alignment with the motions of Your spirit. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
