Simple Faith: Trust God’s Timing

Only You
can make space for You here
in the crowded wilderness
of my heart.

I am a star on the ground
covered,
lost,
slowly forgetting
how to shine.

You are all the heavens dancing,
thunderous voice booming,
wild winds blowing,
angels rejoicing,
mighty hand reaching
down
to gently dust me off
and place me
exactly where I belong
at the perfect time.

Suddenly,
deep in my bones,
I know exactly
how to rise.

The wind blows the weight of the world
off of what I’m really made of,
and I am free.

Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image.”

John 3:8 “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Romans 8:28 “All things work for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

One thing I have learned for sure on my spiritual journey through life is: We Are Not in Charge Down Here.

Yes, we have free will, and the choices we make matter so far as we are leaning into belief or unbelief, integrity or lack thereof. But as cliched as it sounds, God has a greater plan, and no matter what choices we make, we cannot force the timing of His mighty hand to make our pathway known and clear for travel!

Though God operates beyond the limitations of time and space and can make miraculous changes in an instant, and I encourage you to stand in joyful belief of that truth, along with positive expectation of all the great plans God has for your lives – another truth is that we live on planet earth. The Divine Mind has a LOT to take into account including our own personal development and connection to the whole of humanity and causes that are intrinsically bound to our hearts. Our lives aren’t meant to be lived in a moment … we are given a span of many years and should expect a gradual unfolding of God’s plan for our lives, even spanning through the generations of our family trees.

A wise friend once encouraged me to live in trust and surrender to God’s plan. She said “you’ll see … when the time is right, you’ll be plucked and placed into an entirely new field of opportunity.” In the last year, I certainly have been given opportunities beyond what I could have hoped for and imagined, and they came out of the clear blue sky – I can only affirm that her instinct was correct and praise God for His ability to create new opportunities out of thin air. And BOY did I grow in those waiting years! BOY, do I ALWAYS have more growing, healing, learning and interior (not to mention exterior) work to do. Now I am doing my best to be a good steward of the opportunities I have been given and continueing to wait in joyful expectation for even more, while doing my best with the ones I’ve already been given.

Lord, give us the grace to allow Your Spirit deep into the wilderness of our hearts. Illuminate every cell of our body to know You and love You and follow You and most importantly trust You through our journey through life. Give us the grace to live fully the glorious life of victory You ultimately have planned for us, no matter how many difficulties we walk through on the journey. Give us an outpouring of the gift of pure faith, shining ever more brightly in this dark world. In Jesus name, we pray.
