Today I’m running back in time,
combing the fields of my life
and uprooting
all the weeds that grew
from seeds of not enough.
Seeds I threw into the wind before realizing
how fast my beliefs could overtake
reality…
Today, I’m replacing lies
with the fertile soil of God’s word
and little buds of Truth.
I can’t wait to watch them bloom
and discover
who I really am.
Who do you think you are?
On a spiritual journey, this is an essential question. When we believe we’re unworthy of God’s love, without realizing it-we find ways to reject the grace He has for us.
Today, I challenge you to run through the fields of your life and examine your belief system about who you are in relationship to God. What areas of your life have you a broadcast a message of unworthiness, as if you are somehow less than others or undeserving of blessings? For example, do you find yourself thinking, saying or believing I could never that, I’m too scared, I’m too old, I’m too busy, and I’m too (whatever your perceived limitation is).
How are you experiencing the consequences of those negative beliefs today? When we send out negative messages about who we are, they are mirrored back to us through people’s attitudes toward us and opportunities, which reinforce that negative belief, making it harder to change.
When we uproot the weeds of negativity and replace them with positive messages about who we are as children of God, we can begin to break free from unhealthy patterns and experience more of the freedom God wills for our lives.
Try replacing your fears, doubts and insecurities with positive beliefs that are true, like
- I’m fully supported by my Creator
- All things are possible with God
- I’m forgiven for every mistake I’ve ever made
- I’m unconditionally loved beyond what I can even fathom
- I was created for a unique purpose, and I am irreplaceable
- God has great plans for my life
In John 10:10, Jesus said I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. It’s never too late to start realizing who we really are in Christ and opening up to the wonderful possibilities born of a life of faith.
God, help us identify and remove any barriers we have placed between ourselves and the grace You have for us. Help us to see ourselves with loving, hopeful eyes, like You do. Fill us with faith to believe in our dreams and the courage to accept and fully embrace your love, so we can live out the fullness of the plans You have for our lives. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
