Becoming peace

If you want to be covered in chaos,

go ahead and bathe in it –

it’s easy to do, just soak in the news and talk to people.

If you want peace,

you need to shut out the world for a little while.

Maybe leave a little window open, so you can know what’s going on out there …

But you need to be fierce about creating a quiet space to contemplate

and welcome a visit from the Divine.

You need to be intentional about opening your heart to invite

God’s infinite love to heal your life.

I’m telling you, it’s the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

He’ll pour grace over your crown like pure water

for as long as it takes to clear your mind …

before You know it, you’ll be covered in wisdom, knowledge and miracles …

you’ll be filled with power and strength –

you’ll glow from within,

ready to march back into the world as an agent of change.

God makes peace out of people,

Then He radiates out of us to heal the world.

Will you allow Him to work through you?

Mystical love story

The first encounter feels like a helium balloon of love,

floating us gently to new heights of peace and sweetness we’d never fathomed.

Sooner or later,

atmospheric pressure pops this bubble of perfection,

and gravity spirals us back down to the reality of earth,

where purgation starts like a strenuous climb.

A gift freely given must now be fought for

with everything we’ve got.

Really, we’re the lucky ones, who’ve even had a sense of it –

Mystical memory is etched deep in our souls,

illuminating our path and spurring us on.

The journey is arduous, but the destination calls us forth.

I’m here to tell you:

This is how you become capable of greater love.

I’m here to encourage you:

Angels accompany you through every trial.

I’m here to remind you:

The Glory of God is worthy of your effort.

The riches of prayerful silence

If you could begin to fathom the wealth of graces

waiting for you under the surface of life,

you wouldn’t hesitate to dive right into the crystal clear pool of silence.

You would swim boldly,

deep into the beauty of hope.

Even though you’re terrified,

while the frosty water bites your skin

and you imagine creatures hungrily swimming up

to devour your last resolve …

If you had even an inkling of the gemstone treasure waiting to nourish your soul in the quiet depths of contemplation,

you would never quit.

You would surrender even your breath to dive ever deeper,

until you lose yourself completely

in the sacred mystery of His love for you.

I’m telling you the good news beause someone once told me,

and I had the grace to believe.

I dove into faith and lost everything,

even my own life

before I discovered the miracle of infinite riches He’d created me for.

Now I’m alive in truth, bejeweled in dignity.

I finally realize my worth as the daughter of a King, and

I want the same for you.

The question is:

Do you have the courage to your heart wide enough

to receive these graces?

Will you take the plunge?

How to transform your fears into faith

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

I am a born worrier, who has been transformed by grace into a prayer warrior, who doesn’t stay stuck in fear for very long.

I credit my sensitive disposition as one of the factors that sparked my spiritual journey, which has forever enriched my life.

So if you’re a worrier, I see that as great news.

Don’t get me wrong! I’m not an advocate of fear by any means. I agree with Jesus, who  advised us to “be not afraid” in a myriad of creative ways.

But I also see anxiety as an excellent launching point to grow a soul-satisfying faith life.

I mean! So many people wander the earth in a superficial way, carelessly trodding through life oblivious to people around them and the negative effects of their insensitivity.

Worriers don’t make that mistake.

Worriers  tend to be highly sensitive people, who feel things deeply and naturally want to care for others. Worriers tend to be thoughtful, compassionate and fiercely loving human beings, who are wired to pay attention to the emotional landscape all around them.

Though worriers run the risk of getting overwhelmed, it’s because they’re perceptive and brave enough to notice the heartache and risks that really do exist all around them.

I see this a good thing because we can’t pray for a problem that we don’t even know exists.

The mind of a worrier is a natural prayer list creator – we just need need to practice shifting our fears into faith, so God’s grace can start transforming us into the prayer warriors He’s calling us to be.

Here are a few habits that can begin to transform your fear into faith:

1 – Take time to quiet your mind in prayer and meditation every morning
The early hours are best for this because it’s quiet, while everyone else is sleeping. This literally can rewire your brain to be more peaceful.

2 – Cultivate mindfulness throughout the day
Pay attention to your thoughts, take more deep breaths. Notice when you’re starting to think fearfully.

3 – When you find yourself panicking, pray instead
When you pay attention to your thoughts, you have the power to shift into prayer. For example, if a news headline makes you fear war, pray for peace. When you’re concerned about a friend, cover her in prayer. When you’re afraid of losing your job, pray for God to guide you to a more secure one.

It really is this simple! Just stick with it. Grace is transformational, but it takes time to rewire our brain from worrying into warrior-ing.
