Spiritual Journey: Enter into the silence of prayer

Travel

ever more deeply

into the silence

until it settles

into your heart,

into your thoughts,

into your bones …

like an unshakable peace,

a place you can go …

a strength capable of carrying you through storms,

a story you can tell,

a song you can sing,

a love you can pour out

into the world.

Psalm 62:5-6 “My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.”

“In the silence of the heart, God speaks. If you face God in prayer and silence, God will speak to you. Then you will know that you are nothing. It is only when you realize your nothingness, your emptiness, that God can fill you with Himself. Souls of prayer are souls of great silence.” – Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta

In our fast-paced society that values productivity and consumerism above all else, it is counter-cultural to seek God in the stillness of prayer, but that’s where we find the voice of our Heavenly Father waiting to heal, strengthen, guide and comfort us in life-changing ways.

Today, I encourage you to take some time for prayerful silence, and pay attention to how God blesses you through that time.

If you struggle to enter into a peaceful silence, I encourage you to persist in redirecting Your thoughts to God! It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it to cultivate a deeply meaningful and enriching practice of prayer.

Do you have a daily prayer practice? What struggles do you face when you try to enter into the silence of prayer? What blessings do you discover? Comment below, and I’ll be delighted to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lord, thank You for the peace, comfort, strength and guidance You offer us through the power of Your Holy Spirit, when we persevere into the silence of prayer. Give us the grace to make a daily prayer practice, and strengthen us to persevere in prayer. In Jesus name, we pray.
