Deeper Life: Experience the transformational power of prayer

Like a stone at the seashore,

waves of God’s love crash over me,

smoothing away my rough edges.

Mother Teresa said “I used to think prayer changes things. Now I know prayer changes us, and we change things.”

Let’s face it! We all have a lot of work to do to reach our full potential as human beings.

In the light of God’s love, the more we pray, the more we realize our own flaws and shortcomings. The more time we spend contemplating God and growing in self awareness, the more we can allow God to shape our character into who we’re truly born to be.

St. Paul said “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)

No matter how far we’ve come, this work of transformation never ends! I encourage you to spend time focusing on God’s unconditional love in prayer today, and see how it changes your life.

God, give us the courage to persevere in prayer, while you smooth away our rough edges to shape us into who You created us to be. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
