Deeper Life: The relationship between sacrifice and the abundant life Jesus promised

One taste, and I was hooked.

Life,

the Sweet Abundant Life

as promised

is

soooooo delicious.

Pure Love,

the only thing that even really exists.

I couldn’t help but decide

it was worth

dying for,

and I’ve been doing it ever since

with as much grace as I can manage –

It’s not as bad as it sounds!

To live fully is

an expensive gift,

it costs us everything

and is worth every penny,

every tear,

every upside-down moment,

every step outside the comfort zone,

every deep breath of patience,

every act of forgiveness,

every willingness to stand in the Truth at all costs.

When we have the courage to let go,

we create space

for the Only Thing we really want,

the Only Thing that lasts forever.

Matthew 10:30 “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”

Luke 9:23-24 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”

Philippians 2:5-8 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

John 15:13: 13 “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

John 10:10″The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4: “For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.”

“Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.” – Saint Augustine

James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Have you had an encounter with God’s love that transformed your life from the inside out and make you willing to sacrifice for the greater good? How have you died to yourself to gain richer life in Christ’s love through faith? Comment below, and I’ll be delighted to keep you in my prayers?

Lord give us an encounter with Your love that changes our hearts and places us securely on the spiritual path. Help us to let go of attachment of the temporal things of this world, so we can live for the Light of eternity and truly begin to bring Your work of bringing Heaven to earth in this lifetime. In Jesus name, we pray.

      1. You are absolutely, RIGHT ON! Prayer is the key to combat any and everything! As you say, we learn in that time to love more, do more and act more like Christ instead of our pesky flesh. People have to see God and that’s through us! You have a Blessed day as well!! God Bless You and Your Ministry! ❤️❤️❤️
