Spiritual Journey: The dark night of the soul

When God promises you a sunrise,

don’t be surprised when He leads you

through a pitch black night.

The compass He gave you isn’t broken.

It wasn’t a mistake to leave everything else behind.

You were right to embark on this great adventure.

Don’t let the ache in your soul stop you

or the lack, even of stars.

Today’s darkness is a small price to pay

for the Light you’ll experience tomorrow.

Expand your heart into the horizon.

Keep your your hands on the wheel.

Don’t let the wind and storms distract you.

At every moment, steer into the mystery

of the Radiance you were promised.

It’s the only way to be there, when it rises.

It’s the only way to prepare yourself

to rise right along with it.

In our materialistic society, we are taught there is a quick fix for everything. But it’s not true!

On our journey to God, we will go through hard times. But we can rest assured, the sun always rises. God makes good out of bad, and suffering can help us let go of egoic attachments and prepare us to grow spiritually.

The key is to remain faithful through hard times. Trust God, and continue turning toward Him in prayer, even when you’re having feelings of doubt or fear. He truly has great plans for you, like He promised.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”

God, give us the grace to persevere in faith through hard times. Fill us with the courage to trust You, even when things aren’t going our way. Guide us to the light of Your glory, even when we don’t know the way. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
