I don’t know how to fly,
but I know how to come to the edge of everything I’ve known
and say yes
to a presence felt deep in my bones.
I know how to choose Love,
when death is knocking on my door.
I know how to gather the shattered pieces of myself up
into whats left of my heart with a prayer
and hand them over to my Creator,
with hope and trust…
I know how to wait patiently,
while Divine Hands gradually
restructure every part of me.
I know how to carry burdens like boulders
into the deepest jungle of my soul,
and I know how to surrender,
when I’ve gone as far as I can
on my own …
I’m still learning how to separate
the Light from the dark,
when they’re woven too intricately together
for me to see …
But I know how to expand into a Truth
so far beyond my capacity,
only God can fill in the gaps
with His Glory in His time.
I know how to fall all the way
to the bottom of myself
and rise after all,
with no attachment
to how it is going to happen
or where or when or why …
I know how to rest in Divine arms
and wait
on infinite timing as long as it takes …
I know how to allow myself
to be gently reconfigured,
grafted again into the heart of Christ,
once and for all.
Today, I am stepping out of the shadows
that have been blinding me –
I am letting them go.
Today, I am stepping into the Light that’s been calling me,
Today, I am embracing more if it than I ever have before.
Today, I am opening up to infinite possibilities,
new capacities for freedom …
Today, I might learn how to fly after all.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know and it’s time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly”
– Edward Tellar
2 Corinthians 5:7:
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
Isaiah 40:31
but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
What is your personal experience of surrender, letting go of control and trusting God for guidance? Comment below, and I’ll be delighted to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Lord, fill our hearts with increased trust and faith in You. Help us to know and encounter Your love deeply inside our own hearts, so we can be guided by Your Light and be willing to take leaps of faith when necessary. Help our spirits soar with love and personal connection to Your unending spirit, so we can live triumphant lives of faith. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
