Simple Faith: Follow your inner compass

When you follow the whispers of Love

in your heart,

people might think you’re crazy –

Don’t let that stop you from choosing freedom.

There’s only One,

who knows the way.

Whether you call it spiritual GPS, intuition, angel whispers, or the still small voice of God, following interior guidance is an important part of every spiritual journey.

Saint Jane Frances de Chantall said “Follow your own way of speaking to our Lord sincerely, lovingly, confidently, and simply, as your heart dictates.” When we follow God’s voice in our heart, we can trust that we’re on the right path. The spiritual journey isn’t always easy and doesn’t always make sense to those around us, but it always leads us toward the greater good in the long run.

Following God’s voice in our heart is as natural as breathing, but with all the distractions of modern life and our human nature, it also requires discernment. When we take time to invite God into our heart through a consistent prayer and meditation practice, we’re more likely to discern God’s guidance, rather than our own inclinations.

Gods voice is calming, reassuring, steady, peaceful, strong and honest, whereas our own thoughts may be scattered, fear-based, people pleasing or selfish. The more time we spend in silence, the easier it will be for us to discern the difference and truly follow the inner compass God gives to each and every one of us.

What’s your experience following the still small voice of God? Comment below. I’d love to hear all about it and provide encouragement! In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

God, give us the grace to sense your still small voice in our heart and the courage to follow it through thick and thin, into an ever deepening relationship with Your Loving Spirit in spite of what people think. Thank you for being with us and guiding us ever closer to You, when we choose to follow You. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
