If we’d all tune in and listen
deeply enough
to the Perfect Quiet
inside,
we’d all know the Way,
the Truth
and the Light
for ourselves …
We could wander in a trillion different directions
and remain One,
united
beyond time and space,
free
like children playing,
knowing what to do
without making any sense.
We’d cross paths with a grin
and continue
on the path created just for us.
If we listened to God,
we’d stop abandoning ourselves
to follow each other.
Deep down, we would know
how to dance through our valleys
and laboriously climb.
If we could hear the angel whispers,
we’d stop pushing each other over
to force our way
to the top …
We would trust,
we would receive enough,
we would rise when we rise
naturally
like bread,
like flowers,
all seeking the same Sun
in different seasons-
never doubting in His warmth
because we’d experience it for ourselves.
As a writer, coach, crisis counselor, founder of Pennies for Refugees and mother of four, I am passionate about a lot of things in this world.
I could go on forever listing everything that lights me up from the inside starting with empathy, authenticity, joy and generosity. There are so many people and causes I’m passionate about that I sometimes feel overwhelmed on where to focus my energy.
For my personal happiness, it’s essential that I do my best to bring Christ’s peace into this world, which is full of so much darkness and division.
Reflecting on how I am personally called to do this, I have been seeking clarity from God for a long time, and He has gradually answered my prayers with a stronger sense of focused purpose.
In the midst of my various responsibilities and endeavors, what do I stand for above all else?
What is the tie that binds all of my passions together and gives purpose and meaning to every area of my life?
What has transformed my life the most that I want everyone on planet earth to experience?
What do I believe can truly bring people together in a spirit of unity that transcends all forms of political, racial, cultural and religious diversity, along with the woundedness of our broken humanity?
What do I depend on for guidance, love and support in every moment of my life?
It’s simple:
Personal Connection with the Spirit of God.
Though I experience spiritual connection within the context of a particular religion that I love very much, I also experience it through relationships, nature, strangers, random grace-filled moments and in the privacy of my prayer life. I understand that Our Creator meets each of us exactly where we are in all of our diversity, drawing us gradually to Himself in creative ways in His own time – with the big picture of what’s most important in mind. In our humanity, we can never fully understand the mind of God.
In all that I do, I hope to represent Christ’s Spirit, who understands each one of us deeply, accepts us completely and longs for us to draw nearer into His Sacred Heart for healing, protection and a sense of communion with Him and each other.
I pray that the Holy Spirit works through my words and actions to draw others into closer connection with the Living Spirit of God, which can unite all of us in perfect love that is transcendent of any cultural, racial, religious or political diversity or woundedness we’ve endured in our lives.
The mystics tell us that in the presence of God’s Spirit, division, animosity, anger and jealousy all melt away into bliss that transforms us into more loving people. The more we encounter this Infinite Source of Love for ourselves through prayer and meditation, the more inner peace we can experience and share with others and the more we are able to unite as One people to truly experience the “heaven on earth” that we pray for.
Ephesians 2:14-18: “For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
Have you found inner peace through your relationship with Jesus? How are you spreading a message of unity in the world?
Lord, fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Guide us in all we do, and give us the grace to discern Your voice among all the other voices competing for our attention. Bless and protect the work that we do for Your glory. Bring Your healing, peace and joy into the world through our yes to Your spirit. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
