Spiritual Journey: It’s okay to ask for help

Do you really need to lug that boulder

up the mountain

all by yourself?

Shoulders sagging,

spirit wilting in the hot sun …

What would happen

if you put it down for a moment

and called out to your Father for help?

What would happen

if you opened your heart in prayer?

Do you believe in the power of prayer?

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Have you experienced the “rest” for your soul described in this passage?

Yes, we all have our crosses to bear in life. But, Jesus does not want our spirit’s to be decimated by our struggles.  In John 10:10, Jesus said “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Are you experiencing the abundant life Christ promised or do you need a little help getting to that place?

In the midst of the challenges of your life, have you found “rest for your soul” through a life of faith? What burden are you carrying today that you could use a little help with? Comment below, and I’ll be delighted to keep you in my prayers.

Lord, when we are trying to carry the burdens of life on our own, remind us to reach out to You in prayer – help us to know that you want us to reach out for help when we need it. Surround us with a thriving community, where we can support others and receive the help we need to life a fulfilling life of faith. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
